1. How far is South West Rocks from Sydney / Brisbane?

South West Rocks is located on the NSW Mid North Coast, directly between Sydney and Brisbane. We are approximately 5 hours drive north of Sydney and just under 6 hours south of Brisbane. (1 hour south of Coffs Harbour)

2. Can I get to South West Rocks using public transport?

Yes. If you don't have your own vehicle, there are a number of other ways to get to South West Rocks using public transport.

A regular bus and train service operates along the coast from Sydney to Brisbane, and can drop you off and pick you up at Kempsey. We provide a complementary pick-up service for travelling divers, and will pick you up at Kempsey and transport you back to South West Rocks (25mins drive).

If you intend to travel by plane, there is an airport located at Coffs Harbour with Bus and Train services available to take you to Kempsey. Car rental is also available at the airport.

3. When is the best time to see the Grey Nurse Sharks?

The Grey Nurse Sharks live at Fish Rock all of the year. It would be a very rare dive that we wouldn't see our resident sharks

4. What is the water temperature throughout the year?

Fish Rock is the closest dive site on the east coast of Australia to the Continental Shelf, and is subject to warm blue water most of the year. Temperature is seasonal and varies between 18 - 26°c.

5. Can my non-diving partner come with me?

Yes. We cater for all levels of experience. Your partner can experience scuba diving, with an Introductory Dive, or Learn to Dive over a few days. If they just want to watch, they can come out on the boat at no charge if there is space.
