Hairy Lobster Dive Club

The Hairy Lobster Dive Club is a locally based club organised by the South West Rocks Dive Centre.

Our goal is to give local divers the opportunity to dive more frequently and explore the passion they have for the underwater world.

There are lots of activities on offer for club members all through the year, and dive trips organised to both local and overseas locations. Check out some of the photos from our recent trips!

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Hairy Lobsters,

A new year is here and alot of things have changed at the shop during the past twelve months and hopefully you will all get a chance to see the upgrades soon. This year we will be putting a renewed effort into involving everyone and putting on a few new events and some travelling planned.

The dive centre now has a new Facebook page which will keep you updated to the daily conditions and news and can be accessed at http://www.facebook.com/SouthWestRocksDive

We have also locked in our overseas trips for next year giving a lot of time to plan. You can see the flyers at the website if you follow these links -

Fiji Shark Feed Trip

http://www.southwestrocksdive.com.au/dive-club/overseas-dive-trips/dive-fiji

This Fiji shark feed is unarguably the best (well second best behind us) shark dive in the world. We have been there about 7 times in the past couple of years and can't wait for the next trip. Tiger sharks, bull sharks, Lemon Sharks, Silver tips, Black tips, White tips and Tawny nurse sharks basically guaranteed on every dive.

Truk Lagoon Wreck Dive Micronesia

http://www.southwestrocksdive.com.au/dive-club/overseas-dive-trips/dive-truk-lagoon

If you have never heard of this place it is known as the best collection of diveable wrecks in the world. This is a trip we have been planning for years but has been just a bit too expensive until now so it is a great opportunity.

Let us know if you need to wet your gear anytime soon as weather is really good at the moment and there have been lots of sharks around.

We are also in the middle of yet another review to protect the grey nurses at fish rock and a discussion paper has been released which tell of all the latest findings.

You can download the discussion paper at http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/392197/GNS-Public-Consultation-Discussion-Paper.pdf

The state government has asked that anyone who has an opinion on the subject to please fill out a submission form online and write on the form that you would like to increase the protection status for Fish Rock. You can fill this out at

http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/species-protection/conservation/what-current/critically/grey-nurse-shark/gns-review/submission

Hopefully we will see you soon!!
